Georgi Banks-Davies chosen to mentor Homespun Yarns’ Short Film Competition finalists

Georgi Banks-Davies is one of three established directors to have been chosen to mentor the up and coming directors at Homespun Yarns’ next short film competition. She will be mentoring alongside Declan Lowney and Keith McCarthy.

Homespun’s founder, Leo King says: “It’s inspiring to have such talented directors on board to mentor our candidates. No other competition provides this educational journey from basic script right through to a final edit and screening event, whilst hand holding new talents as they venture into the world of film-making.”

Now considered a “passport to industry recognition”, this year, Homespun calls for directors to submit an idea based on a photograph (as opposed to a written brief). This year’s competition is in association with Kodak, and in reference to the source image, film-makers are encouraged to shoot on 16mm. The competition offers a nurturing platform for three lucky finalists who will each be paired with an established director, and for our brilliant Georgi, it’s a chance to give back to the filmmaking community.
